Who You Talk To
You talk to an independent provider. You do not talk to Dishcute Heating & Air about your repair. We make the referral. After that, the conversation is between you and the provider.
Each provider is a separate local business. Their process, pricing, and schedule are their own. That means two providers may handle the same problem in different ways, and both can be fine.
What Happens on the First Call
Expect a short, practical conversation. The provider will likely ask:
- What the system is doing, and when it started
- The age and type of the equipment
- Whether you have seen water, ice, or odd sounds
- Where the home is located
- When someone will be home to let a technician in
Have the thermostat setting and any error codes ready. It speeds things up. A photo of the unit's label can help too, since it shows the model and age.
What to Ask a Provider
A few questions make comparing easy:
- Is the estimate in writing, and what does it include?
- Is there a fee for the diagnostic visit, and does it apply to the repair?
- What parts will be used, and are they new?
- What warranty does the provider offer on parts and labor?
- If the unit is old, can you explain repair versus replacement?
- What maintenance should follow the work?
That last question matters. Repair is step one.
You Are in Control
You choose whether to hire. You choose which estimate to accept. A good provider will explain the work and let you think it over. If you feel rushed, get another opinion.
It is also fine to say no. Saying no to one provider does not stop you from talking to another one.
Costs vary by job. Typical U.S. AC repairs range from under a few hundred dollars for small fixes to well over a thousand for major parts. Always get a written quote.
